About the work: This vibrant and dramatic original work for 2 pianos includes the regular use of odd and mixed meters, often in a polytonal harmonic scheme. The work progresses from its bold opening and powerful first movement, to a delicate and serene second movement. The fast-paced final movement ends with a coda section that builds to a thrilling conclusion. Total performance time - 12 minutes; 2 full scores included in this edition.

An acclaimed edition since it was first issued in 1983, Schultz’s advanced duet arrangement captures every detail of Pachelbel’s most famous work. Primo and Secondo parts are of equal difficulty.
"Three Episodes, Opus 22, 26, 27" (1 piano - 4 hands)
Programmed as a set or as individual works, this series of Episodes is an outstanding addition to the contemporary concert repertoire for professional piano duos. Each work features Schultz’s bold, colorful style, utilizing the full range and capabilities of the instrument. Transformation launches the series with a striking fanfare-like opening that gradually evolves, leading to hauntingly expressive melodic material. By the final section the work has been transformed from its initial powerful treatment to one of gentleness as it dies away. (3 minutes) The Ballet is a glittering, fast-paced, contemporary waltz. While never losing its dance-like feel, the sparkling opening section builds, finally giving way to lush melodies sweeping through the middle section of this dance. The secondo is featured with a gorgeous, rhapsodic solo section before the primo rejoins to build toward the climactic point of the work. A return to the opening material brings the listener full circle before it disappears with a wisp into silence. (5 minutes) Only A Dream is a wild ride, and a thrilling performance piece for the audience. The writing is strikingly dramatic, encompassing a range of characters from playful to mechanical, and haunted to agitated.
